Foreword on Toponymy
Names of places fascinate me a lot and often a huge window into their history. I have generally struggled to get the origins of names - sometimes helps to speak to locals, but many a time, even the locals aren't aware of the origins. However, the more we delay documenting these, the more it will get buried into the sands of memories. This is a feeble attempt to serve my own country, in my own little way. Needless to say, this will be a work in progress as long as I live, and many of this is my own research via old books and other knowledgeable people; many of this is also via speaking to locals. Where possible I include references. This information is freely available for usage, however, irrespective of commercial use or not, I would need you to provide me with the credit for the information, as it costs me time to pull the information.
